Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the website at steveharrison.dev and the macOS app Salary Ticker, both operated by Steve Harrison ("I", "me"). By using the site or the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

Licence to use Salary Ticker

Salary Ticker is provided free of charge. You may download, install, and use it on any Mac you own or control, for personal or commercial purposes, at no cost.

You may not:

I retain all rights in the app, its source code, name, icon, and branding. This licence does not transfer ownership of anything.

Only download from official sources

The only official download for Salary Ticker is from steveharrison.dev/salaryticker. The app is signed and notarised by Apple under Developer Team ID 8RTPS5KUF8; you can verify this in Terminal with codesign -dv --verbose=2 "/Applications/Salary Ticker.app". I cannot vouch for copies obtained anywhere else, and these terms do not apply to them.

No warranty

Except as set out below, the app and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. I do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error free, or compatible with any future version of macOS.

Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law where doing so would be unlawful. Where the Australian Consumer Law applies and permits me to do so, my liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is limited, at my option, to resupplying the app or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

Salary Ticker is a novelty and motivational tool, not a financial product. The figures it displays are a simple calculation based on numbers you enter yourself. They are not payroll data, not a record of hours worked, not tax advice, and not financial advice. Do not rely on them for invoicing, timesheets, tax, or any other financial or legal purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or business, arising out of your use of or inability to use the app or this website. Since the app is supplied free of charge, my total liability to you for any claim is limited to zero, or to the minimum permitted by law if that is higher.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your rights under the Australian Consumer Law described above.

Support and updates

The app is offered free and without any guarantee of support, updates, or continued availability. I may change it, or stop distributing it, at any time. That said, if something is broken I would genuinely like to know, so please do get in touch.

Website content

Articles and other content on this site are my own opinion and are provided for general information. They may go out of date. Code samples are offered without warranty; test anything before you rely on it. Unless stated otherwise, the written content is my copyright. You are welcome to quote from it with attribution and a link, but please do not republish whole articles without asking.

Privacy

How data is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site or app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State and of the Commonwealth of Australia. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your home country's law.
